Seen a million shows over the years, including many Social D shows, and one of the top 10 greatest concert songs I've ever experienced was when he did "Bad Luck" on his "Cheating at Solitaire" tour. He came out for an encore and was on stage all by himself. He exploded into that song, just him and his electric guitar. It was incredible. The band never joined him. He just tore through the entire song with his guitar cranked up, snarling it out with that voice of his. Un-freaking-real.
WOW!! I am so jealous; being a late bloomer I've missed out on so much. I hope that's on the Mike Ness Solo dvd I'm acquiring!

Is that a "new" solo CD I don't know about, or one of the two he put out about 7-8 years ago? It's not on the two solos I have, unfortunately, but his rockin' version of "I Fought the Law" just about makes up for it. (That's on "Under the Influences.") "Cheating at Solitaire" is an incredible, underappreciated work. The lyrics are just fantastic.
Woops--just re-read the Mrs. Sweezer post...where did you find a DVD? (I thought it said CD.) Any info would be appreciated, as I'd love to pick up one of those. Thanks for any reply!

Anyway it's Mike performing in Greenberg PA. '99, it has all of the cheating at solitaire songs plus Bad Luck, I fought the Law and the honky tonk Ball and Chain. a couple weeks ago the weather here was great so i had all the windows open in my house. i've never been able to play guitar and sing at the same time just could never do it, but i had a breakthrough w/bad luck. so i was playing it on the acoustic guitar and singing (i'm an aweful singer) and forgetting that i had all the windows open. at around my 5th time through the song i hear from the outside, "for the love of god shut the f--k up!!" ha

You want to talk about fucking bad luck!! I just got back from driving an hr. and 1/2, and back and spending $25 in gas to see Reno Divorce. My ticket said the colorado springs auditorium, but when we get there, already later than we wanted to, the venue was dark and deserted!!!! So we go to the old chicago near by for me to grab a much needed beer, and are calling people we know to get on line to find out what the fuck happened. My daughter's friends' mother comes through for us and tells us where the venue changed to. We arrive right after Reno Divorce played!!! But Hallalujah, we still get to see The Mansfields, ( I bitched to Dave Mansfield too) but they were worth all the hassle, because the very last song, "dancing with myself" I was fucking dancing with myself!!!!!!!!!!!
I swear, If the SD venue in KC changes or gets cancelled because of weather, then it will be confirmed that I have the worst fuckin bad luck ever!!!
